The Katrin 2 roll system (identical to the old Ultima type) takes a special roll of either 1 ply or two ply tissue, each equivalent to several standard toilet rolls. They are inserted, one on top of the other, and the dispenser locked. Once the first roll has been used up, the split core can be removed and the next roll drops down.
This ensures there is always adequate paper in the cubicle at all times, and the compact nature of the dispenser makes it easy to fit in confined spaces. The single ply tissue is popular with schools and local authorities.
